Our Founding Story
Marksman Digital Media was founded in 2015 by Josh Malcolm, a digital marketing strategist with an unconventional background. Josh entered the industry through affiliate marketing and the trades, not through formal education or traditional agency training.
The company’s approach stems from principles learned outside marketing. Josh spent years in landscape construction and irrigation installation. That work demanded testing systems before full deployment, identifying failures early, and making decisions based on measurable outcomes. When equipment failed, the process was clear: diagnose the problem, fix it, verify the solution, then move forward.
In 2013, Josh began creating mobile banner ads for affiliate PPC campaigns. The work expanded quickly. He learned to track clicks, measure attribution, segment audiences, and test campaign variables systematically. The same testing principles from construction transferred directly to digital advertising.
Marksman Digital Media started handling affiliate projects. The company always intended to build something more substantial. In 2019, Josh completed advanced Meta advertising and conversion rate optimization training through Mint CRO. That formalized the methodology the company had been developing for years.
